Water Filters Working Overtime

Falmouth has spent awarded grant money updating its water treatment plant over the last couple years. I believe there are still updates needed, but they have drastically improved the quality of water delivered from the plant.
So why do so many still report bad smells, discoloration, and overall complain about the water quality?
The answer is because the overall pipe infrastructure in town desperately needs to be upgraded. Just like the fire hydrant pipes, these are all in need of attention.
We received a message today from someone who asked to remain anonymous. As is the case with all our whispers, if you ask to be revealed, we will, but most remain anonymous.
Here is the message below:
“I have a 5 stage whole house water filter in my home that cost me a couple thousand, but others it would cost much more as they wouldn’t have been able to install it themselves. None the less, this is a picture of the stage 1 filter that is used to catch large debris, dirt and rust. Stages 2 – 4 remove everything else such as heavy metals, forever chemicals, fluoride, chlorine etc. Stage 5 is an Ultraviolet light that kills any bacteria or viruses that pass through. This is just 3 months of use and I cannot believe the before and after shot when replacing. The fact the many are drinking, cooking and showering in this is beyond disgusting.”
When you see the pic, may I tell you, it is utterly terrible. Once again, it points out how far the neglect in Falmouth has gone. The complete lack of concern or even a plan to combat this is out of control. At the same time, property taxes and utility rates continue to creep up.
You want to know why we are so critical? Because without holding them accountable, things do not get done. Like yesterday’s post about the gaping holes a child could have broken their leg in, that is being addressed today. I first said it was being fixed, but apparently all they have done is cover the hole completely and put tape up. That issue went on for weeks. But let me guess, they always planned on making it safer today after weeks?
No. You, the citizen, have the power to hold your elected officials and the city you live in accountable and you should, every time.
Below is the picture of this filter after 3 months of use.
