Transparency Come Hard & Fast To Falmouth

Good evening, Falmouth.
Today is October 28.
Fun fact: It has been 3 months and 9 days since we last brought this up. Nearly 8 months since the issue was first raised. And in all that time, the City of Falmouth has proven one thing beyond a doubt:
It does not care.
It does not care about transparency.
It does not care about informing the public.
It makes vague excuses, alludes to vague fixes and then… nothing.
Once their gaslighting has run its course, the issue is buried.
In the months since Councilman Anthony Cox stated in an open Facebook post that they were “looking into” filming city council sessions, what actual progress has been made?
Three months ago, the excuse was “network issues.” That was the last we heard.
I’ll be honest, I’m having a hard time writing this politely. Almost as hard a time as I’m having wading through the steaming pile of excuses we’ve been fed.
Let’s just say it plainly:
The current Falmouth city government does not care about transparency.
They want your inaction.
They want your inattention.
They want your silence.
And they definitely don’t want the public seeing how they operate.
They can’t withstand that kind of lens.
That last bit is reinforced by selective comments at the city police Facebook page and a councilman outright banning comments.
Let’s face it, a lot of those meetings are procedural. Sometimes boring. And in Falmouth, half the time it looks more like a hoedown than a city government meeting.
But that’s not a reason to avoid recording.
It’s not a reason for delay.
And it sure as hell isn’t a reason for silence.
Transparency is simple.
Accountability should be business as usual, especially in local government.
This isn’t an election article.
It’s not even an issue piece.
This is a condemnation.
Whisper One, out.
