Rules and conventions have never been my strong suit.
I really have little use for systems and for the way things are supposed to be. “Supposed to be” is exactly what’s gotten this town and many others, stuck in stagnation and dwindling relevance. As it applies to our articles and the mission of The Whisper, I feel the need to bring a few things up.
We get Whispers from people who need to share them. They come to us because everyone else has stopped listening. We start with those Whispers and we don’t stop digging. The amount of information uncovered can be overwhelming. But one thing is certain: the amount of sleight-of-hand politics and whack-a-mole corruption is out of control, to the point that the system itself has become the very institution blocking progress. As I said, I won’t blindly follow the same systems that are actively failing us, at least not in their current form. That includes journalism as an institution. There are good reporters out there, sure. But often, news stations care more about chasing ratings than chasing truth. They’ve used the tools meant to keep the public informed to flood the public with propaganda instead. Not because of some evil plan, but because that’s just what the system now produces.
Or, to quote Monty Python:
“Come see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help, I’m being repressed!”
We’re obviously not being held down by violence.
but what about the cause of building a financially stable town?
What about living on streets where we can trust the infrastructure?
What about roads and sidewalks that are actually maintained?
What about feeling like your voice matters, even when the votes don’t?
What about your tax dollars?
These articles aren’t written to follow anyone’s guidelines. We’ve reached out in good faith, tried to open lines of communication. We won’t do that forever. Every time we’ve reached out, they haven’t even offered a “no comment.” Just silence. If you come into reading what we write with strong biases, you’re bound to walk away with them too. A lot of people are still hung up on who we are. They say we’re cowards. That we’re wasting our time. That we’re just making things up, even when we show the evidence.
If that’s how you feel, I can’t help you. I won’t waste time trying to change minds already set in stone. But feel free to keep your opinions and post them if you like. Honestly, thank you. We write so the largest number of people possible can see what’s happening around them and then decide for themselves. We even run a free OSINT crash course so that anyone can do their own digging too.
So again, thank you. Your opinion matters.
So do your Whispers.
Feel free to message me with yours or if you need clarification on anything.
Also please like and share. It helps more people see what’s going on.
