Jurisdiction Means Nothing When You Are Armed and Unchecked

On October 1st, I reported on the Falmouth Police Department’s raid at 125 Ronda Drive in Falmouth, KY. What I did not know at the time, and what was pointed out to me later, was this:
125 Ronda Drive is not even inside the city limits.
Let that sink in. The Falmouth Police Department kicked in a door outside their legal authority. Unless the Sheriff’s Department called them in and there is no evidence they did, this was an illegal flex of power. It is becoming a pattern. When you are no longer protecting and serving, but instead roaming around like vigilantes, you have crossed a line. And they crossed it in steel-toed boots.
Yes, there were State Police involved. But where was the Sheriff’s Department? That is their turf. That is their call. The absence of the only agency with jurisdiction speaks volumes. This was not cooperation. This was conquest. And for what? Marijuana. A plant. An herb. Something that half the damn country now sells in stores, including just across the Ohio River.
But no, here in Falmouth, we bring out the battering rams for it. For 5 plants. What a danger.
There is no secret feud between the city cops and the Sheriff’s Department anymore. It is open and obvious. One agency does the work. The other wears the badge like a costume and plays soldier with a bloated budget and a God complex. The Sheriff’s team handles business. The city police play games with lives and liberties, and they do it with your tax dollars. Sure, they do actual policing when they are not busy violating your rights.
What is worse is the arrogance. They act like they answer to no one. They cherry pick which citizens get to speak on their official Facebook page, which, let us be clear, is illegal. They silence comments. They delete dissent. They create an illusion of praise and support while silencing criticism, like some petty little regime. You cannot do that. You do not get to control the First Amendment. You do not get to mute the public because their voices make you uncomfortable.
Let me be absolutely clear, what they are doing is unlawful. Every time they limit public comment or delete a viewpoint they do not like, they are violating constitutional law. They are violating the oath they swore. That is not a technicality. That is tyranny, plain and simple.
Now let me tell you how deep this rot goes.
I have filed eight open records requests for this department. Eight. Every single one denied. No legal reason. No proper exemption. Just ignored or rejected outright. So now I am forced to file appeals, send more emails, jump through more hoops, all to get documents they are required by law to provide.
This is not just one mistake. This is not just one bad call. This is a culture of corruption and cover up. Let me remind you of what we are dealing with:
1. A one point one million dollar police budget for a town with fewer than twenty five hundred people
2. Alleged officer brutality that could be disproven by simply releasing body cam footage and they refuse
3. Alleged alcohol consumption by an officer in a cruiser on the way to work, again, easily cleared if they wanted to. Crickets as usual.
4. Showing up at a fire scene outside their jurisdiction
5. Now raiding a house outside their jurisdiction for marijuana and leaving the actual authority out of it
6. Blocking citizens from engaging on a public platform
7. Repeatedly limiting comments on official posts, controlling the narrative with censorship
8. Arresting a former mayor who was invited to a city meeting by a councilman and ignoring legal advice not to do it
This department is not just broken. It is dangerous. It is rogue. It is bloated with tax money and bloated with power, and it does not answer to anyone. Not to the citizens. Not to the council. Also according to the mayor in a video from a past council meeting, she is on record as saying she doesn’t tell the police department what to investigate, and she is their boss. Lastly not even to the Constitution.
And still, they want your applause.
They want attaboys. They want medals. They want to stand in front of microphones and talk about how brave they are for busting in someone’s door over a few plants.
Let me also be clear to those that say they were using marijuana as the entry point to find harder drugs. Right across from the police station, meth addicts and other addicts are among the patrons of Falmouth BP every day. You would have to be blind or not care to not see it. It is not as bad as it used to be but tell me you haven’t seen the “zombies” walking the streets in Falmouth. If they need a gateway to stop drug abuse they wouldn’t need to visit a house with 5 plants. They could walk out the front door of the police station. They could drive West Shelby. There are known drug dens all over downtown. Somehow the cops have to go outside their jurisdiction to find it. My ASS.
That is not law enforcement. That is theater. That is abuse of power. And worst of all, it is negligence of duty to overreach on the duty of another department. For pats on the back.
Falmouth, KY deserves better. It deserves a police department that respects the law, not one that breaks it to chase headlines. Shut the whole damn thing down. Give a quarter of the budget to the Sheriff’s Office and let real lawmen handle business. Take the rest and fix a road. Fix a hydrant. Fix anything other than feeding this beast of a department that bends the law to their needs.
You are not protecting us. You are embarrassing us.
And we are done being quiet about it.
