Falmouth, there is a dual identity when thinking about our reporting methods and how we want to improve the town for everyone.
When the government body of the City of Falmouth, KY operates as they do and have for countless years, that creates a persona. That persona is worn like a coat. It is whispered about and talked about… and then it fades into just how it is.
Let’s explore some of the loudest whispers:
“Falmouth can’t make any decisions without the OLD GUARD.”
This references the idea that there are influential members of the town and county that like to keep Falmouth just the way it is. Broken and damn near broke.
“Public office doesn’t pay much. We’re just trying to serve our community.”
These same people? Associates of theirs make money off the dysfunction.
Things like: “Sure, just submit a bid wink wink.”
Public office hopping.
(Cough cough) How are you doing, Fire Chief Klaber?
Is your alleged guest at the firehouse staying cool in this heat?
Public officials literally profiting off their public service, while the people they serve are left wondering if their house could be saved in the event of a fire.
(Anyone remember that TV show Hart to Hart? …This isn’t it.)
The City of Falmouth, where the Kennett Tavern allegedly might just be the “highest” building in town.
Aye, Mayor Hazen.
I’ve been reporting.
They’ve been talking smack.
We’ve been asking questions.
They’ve been trying to press criminal charges.
The First Amendment to them? Might just be an alleged rolling paper…
Can you tell I’ve had it?
I’m just warming up.
Before, I was reporting between DoorDashes and a full-time job. Checking stats and comments religiously, just trying to build a real news source for the people who’ve been let down. I stayed hidden because it’s easier to build while under cover.
Tommy Weber has been working hard, helping people, and vocalizing his opinions where he felt they needed to be.
Things changed, see.
Whisper Networks LLC, the parent company of The Falmouth Whisper, has been born.
We’re cementing the first of our press credentials.
The website launches this week.
And when it launches, we’re coming online with 10 towns that have requested we help bring some justice to theirs too.
The people have had enough.
They’re tired.
They just want to live happy lives.
So…
I decree from this day forward:
The City of Falmouth, KY is now the official case study that all towns will be compared to.
You want to see decay?
You want to see corruption?
Let’s read this.
I’m going to put Falmouth, KY on the lips of every viewer as we grow from town to town, until such time as they fix their bullshit.
There’s nothing wrong with the place: Falmouth, KY. It has lovely people, for the most part. It has old and untapped potential.
Unfortunately, it also has a government with tunnel vision on purpose, and a narrow approach to fixing things.
Make no mistake, This isn’t about the personal friends you have who ran for office. This is about what public officials do while in office.
Keep the Whispers coming.
